We are looking to establish an adhoc group which may provide a forum for people to express their views, and as a way forward to lobby for more public input on the decision-making process for issues affecting our neighbourhood.
Team 17 as an adhoc group, the nucleus of an organization.
A geographical community is a group of people living and/or working in the same physical area, such as a neighbourhood. This type of community is characterized by:
Shared Location: Members live in close proximity, which facilitates face-to-face interactions and fosters a sense of place, belonging, identity, and attachment to that place.
Building Community: In times of hardship, stress or emergency it is our neighbours who surround us. Community building is a practice in democracy.
Common Interests and Goals: People often share similar concerns and objectives related to their local environment, such as safety, education, and infrastructure.
Social Relationships: Regular interactions and mutual support among residents help build strong social bonds and can even improve mental and physical health.
Collective Identity: The shared experiences and cultural practices of the community contribute to a collective identity and sense of belonging.
